The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, which we now know to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her to the "child prodigy" category. For a child with Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family members, they had innate talents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin the capital of Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita Lea. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and was also the owner of the well-known Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and enjoyed playing tough sports. The passion for sports was matched by an unnatural talent for performing. As evidenced by receiving nearly every Feis awards for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
